Governing Law: Canada (PIPEDA) and British Columbia (PIPA)
Your Privacy. Our Responsibility.
We keep it simple. No complicated fine print. No surprises. No data practices we wouldn’t tell you about over a meal together.
We approach this with the same transparency we bring to everything we do — a clear, honest outline of how we handle your information.
What we collect, we collect for good reason. What we hold, we protect. What we don’t need, we don’t keep.
Legal Framework
This policy is governed by the laws of British Columbia and Canada.
The two laws that apply to us are:
- Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) — the federal privacy law that applies to how private businesses collect and use personal information.
- BC’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) — the provincial law that applies to UMYUM as a British Columbia company.
Where both laws apply, we follow the stricter standard.
Additional rights for visitors from other regions are set out in the appendices at the end of this policy.
